Wine-Tourism-Day-Logo final croppedThe first-ever Wine Tourism Day in North America will take place May 11th, 2013. Wineries, hotels, restaurants, and other wine tourism businesses across North America are offering special events to the public on this day to celebrate the importance (and fun) of wine tourism.

Events differ and can range from wine pairing dinners to music events to structured tastings. Search for an event near you (http://www.winetourismday.org/events/) or register for the Great Wine Tour Giveaway and join us on May 11th for the first-ever Wine Tourism Day in North America.

Additional member wineries may also be extending additional, unique experiences, and/or donating tasting fees from this day to their local Food Bank. Here are just a couple of our member winery experiences:

Chef Orlando has created a food & wine pairing that will tantalize your taste buds! Enjoy the following Pairings: Smokey bacon wrapped scallop, drizzled with Cabernet Franc reduction, paired with our Cabernet Franc. Blueberry Pulled Pork infused with Smokey Sweet BBQ sauce, paired with our Sangiovese. Guylian Dark Chocolate Mouse with Guylian Praline Hazelnut Truffle, paired with our NV Brut or Raspberry Rosé

Sparkling Wine Dosage Experience!
Glenora Wine Cellars

Time: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM  Offered on the hour
Cost: Complimentary, reservations required

This is a unique opportunity to see how sparkling wine is disgorged (that's the technical term for removing the yeast) and dosaged (that's how it gets its sweetness). Participants will start out the experience with a Sparkling Wine tasting of different levels of sweetness. Steve DiFrancesco, our Winemaker, will then demonstrate the step by step process.

Single Vineyard Riesling Tasting
Red Newt Cellars
Time: 12pm, 2pm (Up to 12 people/time)
Description: A Riesling focused wine education seminar with Red Newt's Wine Director, Bob Madill. This seminar will focus on tasting and discussing Red Newt's four unreleased single vineyard Rieslings from the 2011 vintage: Sawmill Creek Vineyards, Bullhorn Creek Vineyards, Tango Oaks Vineyard, and Lahoma Vineyards. Plus, the option to purchase these otherwise unavailable wines!
