NEW YORK WINE AND CULINARY CENTER
TO HOST 2010 GOLDEN NOSE COMPETITION
Consumer-judged competition will award the best Finger Lakes Wines
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (December 23, 2009) – The Golden Nose is a one-of-a-kind competition that allows consumers to award the best wines from the Finger Lakes region. The New York Wine & Culinary Center (Center) will host the event at its state-of-the-art facility April 17, 2010. Consumers will learn techniques of wine judging from local winemakers, and then award medals during a professionally-run competition. At this year’s event, a special “Riesling Champion” will be crowned by the consumer judges. Golden Nose was previously sponsored by the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and held in Corning, NY in 2006, 2007, and 2008. The event was suspended in 2009. The mission, spirit, and format of the event will stay the same under the management of the Center in 2010. Seneca, Cayuga, Keuka, and Canandaigua Wine Trails will continue to support the event with volunteers. “The Center is an ideal location for Golden Nose because our mission is to promote New York wines,” said Alexa Gifford, Executive Director of the Center. “We have a fantastic wine tasting venue and are happy to carry on this important event that bridges the gap between consumers and producers.” Specific details of the 2010 Golden Nose are still being finalized and will be posted early in 2010. Tickets will be available for purchase in January at www.nywcc.com or by calling (585) 394-7070.
