Winemaker Wednesdays

Winemaker Wednesdays is really for one kind of person: the type of person that not only loves to drink wine, but adores learning about it, talking to people about it, experiencing it. Certainly everybody is invited to this limited series of unique, custom winery experiences, though it has been conceived for passionate, curious fans of wine, winemaking and all that goes into that. Each winery has crafted some kind of unique, or special event or activity for these days. And the programs may change from one Wednesday to the next. It is necessary for you to call the winery and make an appointment for these, and at that time you can confirm their offering. The reason an appointment is required, is because many wineries commit one or two members of their senior leadership (owner and/or winemaker or vineyard manager, oftentimes) to conduct the program, and typically those individuals have  a slew of other tasks and chores they should be doing, and appointments enable them to manage their time best. Some of these offerings have fees associated with them, most do not. Most have limited time constraints, some do not. Every Winemaker Wednesday takes place on the second Wednesday of the given month. The upcoming dates for these programs are as follows:
January 10, 2012
February 8, 2012
March 14, 2012
April 11, 2012
May 9, 2012

2010 Trail Event Dates Announced

With all of its popular weekend wine and food pairing weekend events back in 2010, including the newly resurrected Pasta & Wine Weekend, the coming year will be one of the most exciting ever for fans of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.

With over 34 member wineries making up the Seneca Lake Wine Trail membership, all weekend wine and food pairing events will be three days long in 2010 at all participating wineries. Paul Thomas, executive director of the wine trail, explains "With so many wineries, even with the expanded tasting room hours on Sunday, it has become clear to us that we needed to add more time to the total event duration, better enabling our customers to enjoy a maximum number of participating wineries throughout the weekend, safely. Rather than rushing around trying to visit as many wineries as possible during our events, we hope some of our patrons can take a Friday off of work, and approach the events in a more leisurely fashion."

The 2010 Seneca Lake Wine Trail event dates are as follows:

Deck The Halls Weekend

dth03_wreath_v2.jpgTickets are still available for this incredibly popular event, and while it probably seems a little early in the year to be thinking about holiday-themed events, be assured that this consistently popular event sells out every single year, oftentimes weeks, even months, in advance. Co-sponsored by The Christmas House in Elmira, NY, Deck the Halls Weekend spans two different weekends and is an excellent way to kick off the holiday season. Both Deck the Halls Weekends are held Friday afternoon at all participating wineries from 1pm - 5pm and then Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 5pm both days. The first event is scheduled for the weekend of November 20 - 22, and the second event the weekend of December 4 - 6. Ticket holders are given a handmade grapevine wreath (literally made from vines harvested in the Finger Lakes Region) at their starting winery, and then can enjoy over 2 days worth of carefully crafted samples of food paired expertly with Seneca Lake wines at each of the 32+ participating wineries, picking up unique ornmanents to adorn your wreath at each winery. For more information on the event, click on the link under our Events link above. To purchase tickets, click on the Tickets link above. Like most of our events, we have also cobbled together some terrific, affordable packages (consisting of tickets, accomodations and transportation, and more) which are described in greater detail on the Tickets page. We will also be running our "12 Wine Days of Christmas" promotion whereby selected wineries will be selling wine with a limited-edition label, each reflecting one of the stanzas from our renowned parody song based on the 12 days of Christmas. Both Couples tickets (where only one wreath and one ornament/winery is preferred) and Single person tickets are available for purchase. For more information on the Deck the Halls Weekend event, please call our office during regular business hours toll-free at 877-536-2717.
